15 Month Old Sleep Schedule
Fifteen months is the heart of the one-nap transition. Some toddlers are happily on one midday nap; others still need a short morning nap. The transition can take weeks and often looks worse before it settles — expect early wakes or short naps while their bodies adjust.
Sleep schedule · data from paediatric sleep guidelinesWake windows, naps and total sleep
At this age your baby can comfortably stay awake for 3h 30m–4h 30m between sleeps. Most 15 month babies take 1–2 naps a day and sleep 12–14 hours (day nap + night sleep). Use the wake window — not the clock — as your main signal for when the next sleep is due.

Bedtime routine
A predictable bedtime routine cues your baby that sleep is coming and makes settling easier. At this age, aim for a calm 20–30 minute wind-down in the same order every night. A simple sequence:
- Bath or wash — warm water lowers body temperature, a natural sleep signal.
- Feed — milk in a dim, quiet room; burp well before lying down.
- Book or song — two short books or one familiar lullaby.
- Swaddle or sleeping bag — a clear "sleep time" cue.
- Into the crib calm — use a settling approach that is safe and workable for your family.
Lay your baby down using the settling approach that works for your family. Respond as needed, and see our fuller bedtime routine guide for age-by-age variations.
Common sleep challenges at this age
- The one-nap transition. When the morning nap starts getting refused or pushed later, move the nap to 11:30–12:00 and protect it. A 2–3 hour midday nap with an earlier bedtime beats two fighting naps.
- Nap strikes. A missed nap at 15 months usually means overtiredness, not readiness to quit. Offer quiet time in the crib and pull bedtime earlier that night.
- Separation anxiety. Around this age, bedtime resistance often spikes. Keep the routine identical every night and keep goodnights short and warm.
Frequently asked questions
What is the wake window for a 15-month-old?
About 4 to 5 hours (240–300 minutes). The morning window is typically 5 hours (to a 12:00 nap), the afternoon window 4.5–5 hours to bedtime.
How many naps at 15 months?
Mostly one midday nap of 1.5–2.5 hours. Some toddlers still take a short morning nap during the transition; either is normal for a few weeks.
What time should a 15-month-old go to bed?
With a 12:00 nap, a 7:00–7:30 PM bedtime fits well. If the nap ends late, push bedtime 20–30 minutes later.
